Shungite was originally discovered near Shunga village in the Karelia area of Russia. More deposits have been found, causing this once-rare stone to become more available. This non-crystalline mineraloid contains a large amount of carbon as well as fullerenes. Shungite has traditionally been used for purifying water. For metaphysical practitioners, shungite deflects bad luck and amplifies mental energy. Black carbon residue may rub off of stone over time and can discolor packages, hands and clothes. Sizes, shapes and colors may vary with handcrafted items.
