Shungite is an ancient healing stone found only near Shunga village in the Karelia area of Russia. More deposits have been found, causing this once-rare stone to become more available--for now. Shungite is a non-crystalline mineraloid that contains a large amount of carbon as well as fullerenes, which are antioxidants. This stone has been used for purifying water. According to metaphysical beliefs, shungite deflects bad luck and amplifies mental energy. Black carbon residue may rub off of stone over time and can discolor packages, hands and clothes.
