Instructions
Cut a 20-inch length of Wrapit® 14-gauge dead-soft bright copper wire. With a chasing hammer and steel bench block, slightly hammer the wire until you achieve the desired finish. Be careful not to damage the wire.
Find the center of the wire. Bend the wire at the center to make a slight curve. This will be the bottom of the pendant. About 0.5 inches from the center of the wire on one side, make a 45-degree bend. Now the wire should be pointing toward the top of the pendant. After 1.5 inches, make another 45-degree bend in the opposite direction. Repeat on the other side of the center of the wire, creating a hexagonal frame for the design.
Make a 1.5-inch loop in each of the 14-gauge wires at the top of the pendant. Cut a 12-inch length of Wrapit 20-gauge dead-soft bright copper wire. Wrap one end of the 20-gauge wire around the first 14-gauge bail wire, beginning at the top of the frame. Wrap the other side of the 20-gauge wire around second 14-gauge bail wire, beginning at the top of the frame. Then wrap the first 20-gauge wire around the second 14-gauge bail wire, and wrap the second 20-gauge wire around the first 14-gauge bail wire. Continue crisscrossing the wires, wrapping them back and forth until you have covered the entire bail. Thread the wires back down to the top of the frame. With one side of the wire, create a spiral that will hang delicately inside the top of the frame.
Cut a 14-inch length of Wrapit 22-gauge dead-soft bright copper wire. Wrap the end of the wire about 12 times around the bottom of the frame. Then bring it up along the right side of the frame. Make a small, inward loop. Then bring the wire back out and follow the frame to the top, curving in and out in a decorative pattern. Toward the top, wrap the wire around the frame three times.
Thread the following onto the wire:
Wrap the wire up toward the top of the frame, securing the bead and suncatcher components inside the frame in a symmetrical arrangement. Wrap the wire down the left side of the frame, creating a decorative pattern. When you get toward the bottom of the frame, wrap the wire around the frame five times, securing it tightly. Trim any excess wire.
Slide the pendant onto a sterling silver and stainless steel 48-strand 18-inch necklace.
