Necklace Instructions
Cut a 6-inch length of 18-gauge wire. Create a spiral on each end of the wire. Gently curve the wire into a wide U shape.
On a steel block, use the flat side of a chasing hammer to flatten the wire and spirals. Use the ball side of the hammer head to add texture.
Cut a 15-inch length of 24-gauge sterling silver wire. Tightly wrap the end of the wire just under a spiral of the wire base three times.
Approximately 1/4 inch from the wire base (or the distance from the hole to the edge of a sunstone nugget) make a 90-degree bend in the wrapping wire, causing the working end to parallel the wire base.
String a sunstone nugget onto the wire. Bend the wire sharply back toward the base then tightly wrap twice.
Repeat to add sunstone nuggets along the curve of the wire base then wrap tightly three times just under the opposite spiral. Trim any excess wrapping wire.
Cut two 9-inch lengths of cable chain.
Use jump rings to attach a length of chain to each spiral of the focal.
Use a jump ring to attach a clasp to one end of the necklace. Add another jump ring to the opposite end of the necklace.
Cut two 3-1/2 inch lengths of 18-gauge wire.
Create a spiral on one end of a length of wire. Create a teardrop shape on the opposite end of the wire, wrapping the end twice around the center section of wire directly next to the beginning of the teardrop.
Repeat with the second length of wire.
On a steel block, use the flat side of a chasing hammer to flatten the teardrops and spirals. Use the ball side of the hammer head to add texture.
Cut two 4-inch lengths of 24-gauge wire. Tightly wrap the end of the wire just over a spiral of the wire base three times.
Approximately 1/4 inch from the wire base, make a 90-degree bend in the wrapping wire, causing the working end to parallel the wire base.
String a sunstone nugget onto the wire. Bend the wire sharply back toward the base then tightly wrap twice just above the spiral. Trim any excess wrapping wire.
Repeat Steps 4 and 5 with the second wire base.
Attach an ear wire to the teardrop of each focal.
