- Jump ring, silver-plated brass, 4mm round, 2.4mm inside diameter, 20 gauge
- Paddle pin, silver-plated brass, 2-inch spear style, 22 gauge
- Wire, ParaWire™, silver-plated copper, round, 20 gauge
- Chain, silver-plated brass, 4mm flat cable
- Bead, Czech pressed glass, amethyst purple, 8.5x6.5mm flower
- Pliers, wire-wrapping, stainless steel and PVC plastic, black, 6 inches
- Chasing hammer, steel and rubberwood, natural, 28mm convex head and 14mm ball head, 10 inches
- Ear wire, silver-plated brass, 17mm fishhook with 2mm ball and open loop, 22 gauge
- Bead cap, silver-finished copper, 11x4.5mm flower, fits 4-6mm round bead
Instructions
Step 1
Cut a 15-inch length of 20-gauge wire.
Step 2
Grip the end of the wire with the largest step of the wrapping pliers. Make a full circle with a slight overlap.
Step 3
Use the single jaw of the pliers to create a full circle in the opposite direction. Repeat to create eight smaller circles, changing directions each time, around the larger circle.
Trim any excess wire.
Step 4
Place the component on a steel block. Use the flat head of a chasing hammer to flatten the outside of each petal, avoiding any overlapping areas.
Step 5
Repeat Steps 1 - 4 to create a second focal.
Step 6
Cut the following 4mm chains:
- Four 1-link lengths
- Four 4-link lengths
- Two 7-link lengths
Step 7
String a flower bead and a flower bead cap onto a spear pin then create a wrapped loop. Repeat to create a total of 10 drops.
Step 8
Use 4mm jump rings to attach a length of chain to each drop.
Use 4mm jump rings to attach the opposite ends of the chain to five adjacent petals of each flower, graduating from the longest in the center and the shortest on the outer loops.
Attach an ear wire to the petal opposite the longest dangle. Repeat to complete the second earring.
