Cut a 4-foot length of Fireline® thread. Add a beading needle.
Pick up 24 gold #11 seed beads. Pass the needle back through all 24 seed beads again then through the first bead strung one more time.
Pick up one gold #11 then pass the needle through the next three beads in the row. Pick up another gold #11 and pass through the next three beads. Continue all the way around. This forms two rows of 12 beads each and one half row of 6 beads.
Depending on where you are in the design, pass the needle through seed beads until you exit one of the gold seed beads in the top row opposite of the half row of six.
Continue to use tubular peyote stitch to add the following rows:
Add a half row of beige #15.
Add a row of gold #15, adding two beads with each pick-up.
Add two half rows of gold #15. Finish the dome with a row of four gold #15.
Pass through various beads until you exit one of the root beer #11 rounds from the uppermost row of root beer.
Create a 3-bead-wide strip of odd count peyote to form a "bail" of seed beads. Pass the needle through the top row of root beer beads on the opposite side of the dome, leaving enough space to pass a cord through.
Pass through various seed beads to secure then trim excess thread.
Apply a thin layer of E6000® Plus adhesive onto the whale tail focal, covering the blunt end and approximately 1/4 inch down the sides. Press the seed bead dome onto the focal. For additional security, sew the beaded dome onto the focal using the drill hole in the focal.
Pass a necklace cord through the peyote bail to complete the necklace.
