Follow along with Rose, a jewelry designer at Fire Mountain Gems and Beads, in this peacock seed bead bracelet tutorial. Learn the entire process of creating a flat peyote stitch bracelet--from drawing the pattern and beading the bracelet to adding the clasps and applying a picot trim.
Instructions
Cut a 6-foot length of thread then add a beading needle, almost doubling the thread to make it easier to work with.
Add a stop bead, leaving a 2-foot tail.
Using the pattern provided and the even count peyote stitch technique, create the main body of the bracelet.
After the last row of peyote stitch is completed, pass through adjacent beads to exit where the first loop of a slide lock clasp will be secured.
Pick up a coordinating seed bead then pass through the first loop of the clasp. Pass through the bead and loop two more times to secure.
Repeat to secure the remaining loops of the clasp. Pass through adjacent beads to secure the thread then trim.
Remove the stop bead and add a beading needle to the tail thread. Repeat to add the second half of the clasp to the beginning of the bracelet.
Cut and prepare a new length of thread. Pass through various rows of the peyote stitch to secure the thread, exiting the first edge bead on one side.
Pick up three #15 seed beads. Pass back through the second bead picked up then pick up a new #15 seed bead. Pass in through the next edge bead then out through the next. Pull the thread tight to create a picot.
Repeat to add a picot stitch to both edges of the bracelet.
Pass through adjacent beads to secure the thread then trim.
