Carrier beads are two-hole beads designed to be beaded around. Follow along with Rose to see how to peyote stitch carrier beads for use in jewelry.
Cut a 6-foot length of thread. Thread a beading needle almost doubling the thread but leaving a tail so you are working with only one thread.
Pick up twelve #11 Delica seed beads. These beads will be the first two rows of peyote stitch.
Create a 52-row length of peyote stitch in the colors and pattern of your choice. Do not trim the thread.
Bring the two ends of the length of peyote stitch together so the beads interlock. Pass through the beads of both rows alternately to ''zip'' together. Repeat in the opposite direction.
Do not trim the thread.
Place an acrylic carrier bead in the circle of peyote stitch. Position the length of peyote stitch so the needle is exiting an edge bead adjacent to the hole of the carrier bead.
Pass through the hole of the carrier bead then back through the two rows of peyote stitch to return to the starting side. Repeat once more on the same side of the carrier bead and twice on the opposite side to secure.
Pass through adjacent seed beads to exit an edge bead adjacent to the second hole of the carrier bead. Repeat Step 5 to secure the peyote stitch at the second hole.
Pass through various seed beads to secure the thread then trim.
Add a beading needle to the thread tail and repeat to secure the thread.
Repeat Steps 1 - 8 to embellish 12 more carrier beads.
Cut two 10-inch lengths of Accu-Flex® professional-quality beading wire.
String onto the beading wire: one crimp and one Accu-Guard™ wire protector. Pass the beading wire back through the crimp. Pull the beading wire so the crimp rests snug against the Accu-Guard, leaving approximately 1/4 inch of beading wire on the end. Crimp then trim the excess from the short end of the beading wire. Finish with a crimp cover.
String one 4mm druk and the first hole of an embellished carrier bead. Repeat to add all the carrier beads, separated by 4mm druks. String one additional 4mm druk.
Repeat Step 10 to secure the strand.
Repeat Steps 10 - 12 with the second strand of beading wire and the second holes of the embellished carrier beads.
Use 4mm jump rings to add each half of the clasp to the ends of the bracelet.
