Instructions
The Chips and Pebbles necklace is created as a continuous necklace and does not require a clasp.
Cut 4 strands of size "D" Nymo® thread. Cut each strand approximately 40-inch long.
Pick up 1 strand and run thread though a light-weight twisted beading needle. At approximately 6-inch from the longest end of the thread, double a piece of scotch tape over the thread. Do not make a knot on the ends of the thread. Then string on:
This completes one section. Repeat the pattern until desired length of necklace is achieved. The necklace shown is 26 inches long not including the fringe.
Pick up the second strand and thread beading needle. Repeat the scotch tape procedure. String on:
Then run the thread through the following sequence of 3 beads of the first strand:
Then continue stringing with:
Then run the thread through the 10mm fossil bead of the first strand. Continue on with this sequence until both strands are the same length.
The next 2 strands are strung the same as the above, going through the 10mm fossil bead and the 3 bead sequence of the first 2 strands:
However, in place of the #11 white seed beads use: #11 bronze beads, and in place of the 4mm white bone beads use: #8 bronze beads.
Make these strands the same length as the first two strands. This completes the basic necklace leaving
When all 4 strands are at the desired length, take off the scotch tape from the thread, one strand at a time and run the thread with a needle attached through (1) 10mm fossil bead. Run all 8 strands through this 10mm fossil bead. Pull the thread tightly to take up any slack, making sure that each thread is still approx 6 inches long on all 8 ends. Now divide the 8 strands in two, creating 2 sections of 4 threads. Take these two sections and make a knot next to the 10mm fossil bead. Make sure the knot is pulled tightly. With needled thread string beads, crystals, rock chips, and druk beads on each tail to make the fringe. These beads can be strung on in any order you please and each strand can be slightly different, but make all fringe strands the same length.
Tie off each strand by running the thread up and over the outside of the last seed bead and with needle come down through the top hole of the last seed bead pulling the knot, that you just made by doing this, very snugly and tightly. Use glue to seal the knot. When glue is dry cut off the excess thread very close to the knot using either very sharp scissors or razor blade, making sure you do not cut the thread above the knot
