Instructions
Cut one 12-foot length of 2.2mm cable chain and three 12-foot lengths of 1mm imitation silk cord.
Fold the length of chain in half, insert the fold through half of a breakaway clasp from the outside in. Attach a 5.5mm jump ring to the center link of the chain to secure the fold in the clasp.
Gather the three lengths of cord and tie an overhand knot in the center. Put the ends of the cord through the clasp from the inside out.
Place the cords and chain in a kumihimo disc for a standard 8-strand spiral. The chains should be on one side of the disc and the cords on the other three.
Braid the cord and chain to the desired length. Do not remove from the disc.
Insert the chains through the second half of the clasp from the outside in. Add a jump ring to both ends of the chain to secure.
Insert all the cords through the clasp from the outside in. In groups of three, tie overhand knots to secure the cords.
Push the chains and knots deep into the clasp and add E-6000® adhesive. Use a wet awl or finger to manipulate the glue deep into the clasp to avoid interference with it closing. Repeat on the opposite end of the necklace. Set aside to cure.
Use a 10mm jump ring to add a swivel clasp to the center of the lanyard. Add a second jump ring parallel to the first to create a double-ring connection.
Cut a 2-foot length of imitation silk cord.
Fold the lanyard in half at the jump rings. Use the length of cord to add a 1/2 inch whipping knot around both sides of the lanyard, just above the jump rings.
