Inlay jewelry is a beautiful way to display stones without the use of traditional stone-setting techniques. Instead, inlay jewelry projects use components and settings with open channels, empty space and voids, filling them with gemstone chips, crystals, glass and more. This allows designers to create jewelry with multiple stones, different textures and one-of-a-kind elements. This same technique can also be used to create faux druzy and geode-style jewelry for outstanding statements.
Inlay jewelry brings metal and stones together for an organic look and feel (just like magic!). Inlay designs are popular in western-themed jewelry, are always a celebrity favorite and can be found in high-end department stores in earrings, necklaces, hair accessories, bracelet cuffs and rings. The best news is that you can make your own inlay jewelry to wear and sell for much less.
You won't believe how simple (and fun!) inlay jewelry is to make. Get started by watching this quick how-to video on creating your own crushed-stone inlay jewelry and you'll be ready to let your creativity go wild with possibilities.
Any setting that has an area or open space can be filled with resin, chips, crushed stones or beads. The Almost Instant Jewelry® settings provide great components to fill with gemstone chips and stones.
This is the fun part! Simply use inlay gemstone chips or small crystals and stones to design stunning mosaics. You can also make your own chips by hammering glass beads (using protective eyewear of course).
Once you've filled your jewelry components, it's easy to seal with resin, such as resin. The resin can be smoothed out with a torch, and some varieties cure with UV light.
It gets even better! The resin can also be used to create faux druzy pendants by mixing in resin glitters and Mica powders.
Once you discover the magic of creating inlay jewelry there's no telling where your creativity will take you.
