Instructions by Michelle Wood, Jewelry-Making Expert, Exclusively for Fire Mountain Gems and Beads®

What is a Hot-Fix Tool?

A hot-fix tool is a versatile handheld device used to apply embellishments such as hot-fix rhinestones, crystals and metal studs to fabric, leather and other surfaces. By heating the specialized adhesive on the back of these components, the tool bonds them securely to the material—no glue or sewing required. Whether you're customizing denim jackets, adding shimmer to dancewear, or giving your jewelry designs an extra sparkle, the hot-fix tool helps you achieve polished, professional results with ease.

*Note: When applying to treated leather, you may need to rough up/expose the leather for glue to adhere securely.

Instructions

Step 1
Rhinestud on metal strip

Pre-heat hot-fix applicator tool for about 2 minutes with desired tip attached. Place hot-fix rhinestuds in desired pattern glue side down.

Step 2
Rhinestud on metal strip being pressed with applicator

Holding hot-fix applicator straight up, place applicator tip on top of rhinestud for a count of 10 or until glue begins to melt. Larger rhinestuds may require longer heating time.

Allow rhinestud components to cool completely and check rhinestud for adherence. Repeat if necessary.
