How to Lap and Polish Jewelry
Follow along with this tutorial to learn how to clean and polish jewelry with the Jooltool™ sharpening and polishing system that laps smoothly and accurately. Courtesy of Jooltool™.
Disclaimer: When using your Jooltool, remember to tie your hair back, use safety glasses and, when you're not using the vacuum, use a respirator.
Instructions
Lap Instructions
Step 1
Attach the fine grit Scotch-Bright disc to the post on the Jooltool™.
Step 2
Run the Jooltool at full speed.
Slightly press and hold the piece right up against the center of the underside of the wheel.
Tip: You can lap a flat surface without creating any dips or draglines.
Step 3
Remove the piece from the wheel when you get the desired effect.
Tip: You will only need to expose the piece to the wheel for a few seconds to get the desired effect.
Turn off the JoolTool.
Polish Instructions
Step 1
Attach the felt disc to the Jooltool.
Step 2
Run the Jooltool at full speed. Quickly run the polish along the underside of the wheel.
Step 3
Slightly press and hold the piece of jewelry right up against the underside of the wheel.
Tip: You will only need to expose the piece to the wheel for a few seconds to get the desired effect.
Step 4
Remove the piece from the wheel when you get the desired effect.
Turn off the Jooltool.
