Moonstone, Pink/Peach Meaning and Properties

What is the History of Pink/Peach Moonstone?

Pink or peach moonstone is beloved for its warm glow and soft, feminine energy. Like all moonstone, it's named for the lunar-like shimmer—known scientifically as adularescence—that dances across its surface. Ancient cultures believed moonstone was created from moonbeams, and it has long been associated with intuition, love and emotional balance.

While traditional moonstones carry a silvery hue, pink and peach varieties offer a gentle warmth that’s especially appealing in romantic and spiritual jewelry designs. Revered in cultures from India to Europe, moonstone was often gifted as a token of affection, believed to bring harmony to relationships and insight to the heart.

What are the Metaphysical Properties of Pink/Peach Moonstone?

Pink and peach moonstone are thought to carry especially nurturing energies. Associated with the heart and sacral chakras, these stones are believed to help calm emotional turmoil, encourage compassion, and strengthen feminine energy—whether you're wearing it for self-love, romance or emotional renewal.

Some believe this moonstone variety deepens connection to the divine feminine and promotes inner peace, especially during times of transition or emotional stress. It's said to heighten intuition and help the wearer align with the cycles of the moon.

Moonstone is also a traditional birthstone for June, especially popular with Geminis and Cancers, and is considered a powerful gemstone in Ayurvedic and Tibetan traditions.

What is Pink/Peach Moonstone Made From?

Like other moonstones, pink and peach varieties are part of the feldspar group—specifically potassium feldspar. The distinctive shimmer (or schiller) comes from layers of feldspar that reflect light back and forth as the crystal forms. The color of pink/peach moonstone comes from mineral inclusions that add warmth to its creamy, translucent body.

While moonstone deposits are found across the globe—including India, Sri Lanka, Madagascar, Myanmar and the United States—high-quality peach moonstone is often sourced from India.

How Do You Clean Pink/Peach Moonstone?

Because moonstone is relatively soft and prone to cleavage, it's best used in jewelry that’s less likely to be bumped or scratched—such as earrings, pendants and statement necklaces.

Clean moonstone with warm, soapy water and a soft cloth. Avoid ultrasonic cleaners, steamers, or exposure to high heat. Store moonstone separately from harder gemstones to avoid scratching, ideally wrapped in a soft cloth or pouch.

Designing with Pink/Peach Moonstone

Pink and peach moonstone’s delicate shimmer and warm tones lend themselves beautifully to romantic, boho, or celestial-inspired designs. Try pairing it with rose gold findings for a soft, feminine look, or contrast it with matte black onyx or antiqued brass for a moody, modern twist.

For a graceful bridal or goddess-like aesthetic, blend peach moonstone with cultured freshwater pearls, blush crystals and floral charms. Or, make it the centerpiece of a wire-wrapped pendant to show off its natural glow.
