What is the correct method of measuring a curved tube bead?

To measure a curved tube bead, you can lay the bead on a ruler and measure the longest tip to the longest tip. Or you can use a caliper by sliding open the tips of the caliper, placing them against the outside tips of the curved tube bead, then closing the tips to meet the bead. Then read the measurement.
