How do you determine the size slide clasp to use?

Article FAQ Answer Icon

There are a few types of slide clasps. One is a glue-in clasp. You choose the clasp by the diameter of the cord you are using. For more instructions on using a glue-in slide clasp, read the instructions here.

Then there are ribbon-style slide clasps (ribbon crimp ends). You choose them by the width of the materials you are attaching to the clasp.

Last are slide lock clasps. You attach strands of your piece (such as a necklace) to each loop. You will select the slide lock clasp according to the number of loops it has. A two-strand slide lock clasp will have two loops on either side to accommodate a two-strand piece. A five-strand slide lock clasp will have five loops on either side so it can accommodate a five-strand piece.
