I have a vintage piece of jewelry where a pear shape crystal 15x10mm has most of the foil back removed. I purchased a 14x9mm pear shape from Fire Mountain, but it is too small. Is there any way to replace the foil backing on the original? Did not see where Fire Mountain has the size I need.

14x10mm is a standard size for most fancy pear crystals. We do not know of any that measure 15x10mm. Also, we do not know of a process to replace the coating on a fancy stone. You could try applying silver leaf to the back of the stone. Use nail polish remover to strip off the remnants of the old backing and provide a clean surface for the new foil. Apply with a specialized adhesive according to package directions. Just be sure to test on a different fancy stone first. Good luck!
