Hi, I have been working with Agate Druzy stones lately and I'm finding that the stones lose the bright color after they have been worn in jewelry up against the skin. Is there a sealant that I can use to keep this from happening? I appreciate any insight you may have! =)
Highly colorful agate is most often dyed. The dye can wear with friction. Common methods of sealing in the color are to use wax, clear acrylic spray or epoxy resin. It’s a good idea to test an item that isn’t valuable first to see if you are happy with the results.
