Instructions
Tie one end of white Hemptique® hemp cord to the spiral frame. Wrap about 160 inches of cord around the frame. Glue the end of the cord down and let it dry.
Cut four 8-inch lengths of hemp cord. Tie them at four points equally spaced around the outside rim of the frame. Gather the four cords and tie them in a simple overhand knot around a large oval split ring keyring. Glue the knot and let it dry. Once it’s dry, trim the excess cord.
Attach a 12mm jump ring to each of ten 50mm Capiz shells in various shades of cream, turquoise, teal, green and blue. Hang the shells by the jump rings at various places along the spiral frame. Once all the shells have been hung, add a drop of Quick Hold® clear adhesive to the seam in each jump ring and to the top of each jump ring, in order to keep them in place along the frame. Glue a paua shell drop on top of each jump ring. Let the glue dry.
Select the desired quantity and hues of 50mm Capiz shells. In this example, the artist varied quantities of 5, 6 and 7 shells for each of the 10 dangles. Join the shells in each dangle with 12mm jump rings, then attach each dangle to one of the 10 shells on the spiral frame.
